Who we are
Đom Đóm Permaculture is a sustainable agriculture project based in Tân Lạc, Hòa Bình, Northern Vietnam. Founded in 2019 by Henry Herbert and Vương Thùy Linh, we focus on regenerative farming methods that restore soil health, eliminate chemical inputs, and build resilient food systems.
Drawing from experience in Colombia, Switzerland, and across Vietnam, we integrate principles from permaculture, natural farming, regenerative agriculture, and syntropic agroforestry into practical, locally adapted solutions. Our 1.2-hectare farm serves as a living example of these methods in action.
We offer consultation, design, and educational services to support farmers, schools, and communities. Over the years, we’ve collaborated with a range of partners including the United Nations International School (UNIS), The Olympia School, Four Paws Bear Sanctuary, and Blue Dragon Foundation to bring sustainable practices into diverse settings.
Our mission
Our mission is to combine traditional knowledge and skills with current scientific knowledge to regenerate soil and grow nutrient-dense food. We fully commit to growing food without the use of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides and fungicides, and instead apply practices such as using indigenous microorganisms (IMO) to improve microbial diversity, making compost and biofertilizers from local resources, growing cover crops and biomass species in orchards, as well as no-till methods to reduce soil disturbance and erosion.
By adapting our working model to different contexts, we help other farmers, land owners or anyone with balcony to regenerate their land and grow healthy, clean food whilst ensuring a clean and biodiverse environment where communities can thrive.
“the nation that destroys it’s soil, destroys itself
- Franklin D. Roosevelt
Our approach
Our approach to agriculture involves a combination of various methods from around the world, including Syntropic Agroforestry, Regenerative Agriculture, Organic Farming, Korean Natural Farming and Permaculture design. We believe that each of these methods can be useful when applied in the right context, and they each bring their own set of benefits. However fundamentally they all aim to grow food without the use of synthetic chemicals and in harmony with nature.
Improve soil health through organic methods
Grow a diverse range of nutrient-dense food
Give farmers and the next generation the tools to change our food system for the better
Ensure healthy, diverse and thriving ecosystems
Use cheap and locally available inputs to reduce environmental impact
